This year at Enrich it has been a great year. I have learned a lot of different things that I didn't know before I came to Enrich!

Hi everybody 

Today at Enrich I painted my clay sculpture. My sculpture is an owl. I painted it red for my base coat then painted the eyes red purple and black. Next I painted the feathers purple and pink and the wings blue. Then I painted the nose and feat aqua blue and around the head green and thats what my owl looks. As you can see I have posted three pictures of my owl below.

Passion time

Today at Enrich I finished my practice dress for passion time.

I really enjoyed making my practice dress.

I know only have two weeks left to start and finish my real dress!

Today we had a man called Grant in to talk to us about an environmental organization called Sea Shepherd.They save whales , penguins , seals and other endangered species.He showed us a slideshow about how his team were saving the species especially whales.They had to chase after some Japanese ships which were trying to catch whales, so Sea Shepherd threw stink bombs at them to slow the Japanese down.The gas from the stink bombs meant they couldn't eat the meat but they could still do scientific research on it.

Today at Enrich we did our must dos and picks.

                                                                                               

I have finished the affective workshop about Adora Svitak, (a 12-year old girl from America who published her first book when she was 6, and now speaks in front of HEAPS of adults), the charcoal landscapes which was an art activity, and the where in the world. The where in the world is when you have to follow clues to find henry the tuatara.

I have just started the landscape design.The landscape design is when you create your a garden for a certain group of people. I haven't done debating yet:) Happy halloween!  Follow this cool link for something spooky!

Today at Enrich we started must dos and picks again. Today's must dos and picks were, picks:
A spinning match stick experiment, charcoal landscapes and landscape designs. We have to choose two picks to do over this week and next week.

I have already started the Where in the World and finished my charcoal landscapes!

Today at Enrich we played a new game called 'All or Nothing'. This game is for 2 or more people. What you have to do is get 4 hoops and 1 basket and 1 small beanbag and place the hoops in a line in front of you, place the basket inside the first hoop then move back a fair distance and try to throw the beanbag in the basket.If you get it in move the basket to the second hoop and stand behind the hoop the the basket is in and throw the beanbag to the next person then move to the back of the line. If they don't catch it move the basket back to the first hoop and start again keep going like that until you get it into the forth hoop and throw it back to the other person, but make sure they catch it.

Today we practiced our proposal to show the people at the council chambers our ideas for Wachner Place. We are doing the Garden Me Isabella , Miro ,AJ and John are in a group:) Next week we are going to the council chambers eeeeeekkkkkk! I hope it goes ok:)until next time bye.

Today we did our Environment projects. Isabella and I wrote down what I'm going to say to Diacks nursery when we ring up to ask how much each plant costs. We also put together a keynote to present to  the city council to see if we can repair the gardens at Wachner Place. We really hope we can prepare for the presentation in time. Wish us luck:)

Hello today we did science with Katie and we did parachutes again. We switched partners I was with Destiny. This week we didn't use material this week we used plastic bags and balloons!



We got half an hour to get the parachute done. We got the following other materials to make the parachute:newspaper,sticky tape,scissors,skewers and vivids. 

Hi. At Enrich today we did new high interest stations! I did science with Katie and we made really awesome parachutes! Tessa and I were in a group. We used pink spotted material because it wasn't too light or too heavy! We used a cup, some string, a skewer and an egg. We tied the string to the cup and the material. We made the holes in the cup and the material with the skewer. We put the egg in the cup and we decorated the egg with coloured vivid! Our egg survived the fall.  Science was awesome!

Today at Enrich we did our high interest stations. I did science and we made lightbulbs!I was in a group of three - it was with Destiny and Tessa. First we had to tape eight batteries together, then we got a small cardboard roll and taped two wires to the roll and then we put a pencil led in the alligator clips that were on the wires. Next we put a jar over top and last of all we put the other ends of the wires to each end of the batteries. Then it was a lightbulb!!!!!!!

At Enrich today we went for a wander down to Wachner Place!        It was to get ideas for our environment project:) 
Some of the ideas I got were:painting murals on the blank walls and having a little rose garden because Wachner Place isn't very exciting:(

Today we designed a mural! We were in groups of four! We got some photos to stick on but we had to draw stuff too! The photos were kiwi icons like: pavlova, kiwis and gumboots!

Concept curriculum - Environment!

Hi everyone.
Today is the first day back for term three:)
I'm very glad to be back.

Today we learnt that our new concept curriculum for the next two terms is Environment:)The environment is your surroundings & what lives in your surroundings.The environment is the air we breathe,the water that covers most of the earth & the plants and animals around us!  

Gifted awareness week:)

Today at enrich we learnt that this week is gifted awareness week! To celebrate we ate chocolate  cake:) While we were eating cake we were learning about the habits of mind. I know what your thinking... What are the habits of  mind? Well there are sixteen habits of mind one of them is: thinking flexibly which means thinking of different ways of doing things! Bye:)

My Tapa Cloth!

Today I made a Tapa cloth! A Tapa clothe is a Pacific Island Cloth.  This is how you make one:
You need:  A pencil, a vivid, thin brown paper, brown dye.

We started last week by sketching the bird's footprint (this made up most of our pattern).  We made a stencil to help trace this onto our brown paper.  Next we had to come up with other ideas to fill in the other squares.  I used a jelly fish and a butterfly.  You had to set your designs out like a chess board.  Once we had drawn everything onto the brown paper, we had to go over the outline in vivid.  Then you had to scrunch the paper up until it began to feel quite soft.  The last thing was dying the tapa cloth with brown dye.  They should be dry next week. We are going to put them up in the classroom.

Hi! Let me tell you about my day. Well today for talent development I made an amazing photo. It is of me riding a duck - yes I know what your thinking, "riding a duck?" - Yes I got a photo of a duckling off the Internet on Google Images Advanced Search and took a shot of me with a green screen and put myself on the duck! It looks amazing! Bye.

Today we had talent development. For talent development we went to Queens Park to take photos! I took two hundred and sixteen photos! My favourite photo was a ripple in the water! Here are some photos that I took and some that I didn't take!

We picked a background and posed like we were in the background. I chose a kitten lying on its back. I posed like I was rubbing it's tummy!    

Passion time!

Hi. Today we had a new thing at enrich called passion time! For passion time I do wearable arts. For wearable arts we have to design an outfit!My outfit has a bow, a hat, a big puffy dress and rainbow polka dotted high heeled shoes! I love passion time!

Today at Enrich we went to the museum for the wearable arts festival! There were lots of interesting pieces of clothing. There were bras and dresses.They were made of very interesting material. I loved the wearable art! 

Last day of term!

Today is the last day of enrich for the term!We did a learning wheel, a learning wheel is a reflection of what you have done! Here is a photo of my reflection on term one.

The multiple intelligences survey!

Today at enrich for one of my must do`s I did the multiple intelligences survey! It was kinda like asking you what your passion is. The survey was Awesome! 

Debating

Today I did the debating workshop with Alana. The topic we had was: Should animals be kept in cages or not? I was on the team for animals shouldn't be kept in cages. One of our reasons why they shouldn't be kept in cages is because they wouldn't get enough exercise.  It was a fun workshop!

Today I wrote a bio poem it was awesome I wrote my perspective of myself and I wrote my important relationships.I wrote what I have once felt/loved shy & happy.I also wrote my biggest fears.

The field trip

For our concept curriculum - perspectives, we went on a field trip to explore what perspectives means. We went to the art gallery, first church and the water tower. Unfortunately the next day the water tower closed. It was an awesome field trip! I now know that perspective means different points of view.
