"Quick we need to practice these songs!" Nicola said
This is why: Next week we are doing busking for performance and we have four songs to remember off by heart. The order we are doing them in is 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas', 'Deck The Halls' Then Max has a monologue and after that we are singing 'Ding Dong Merrily On High' and last but not least 'Jingle Bells'. I hope it all goes well!

I have a solo in 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' and it goes like this: We wish you a merry christmas, we wish you a merry christmas, we wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
We were supposed to practice singing outside today but it was too wet. I wish we could have practiced outside. :(
Next week we will be getting the costumes sorted to look like fairies! Max will probably be dressed up as an elf.
Wish us luck! :)

What does Christmas caroling have to do with Enrich you ask. It all started at ten to eleven (when Talent Development started!) Nicola announced that we will be busking by singing in about three weeks! We are singing "Deck the Halls, We wish you a Merry Christmas and Jingle bells". I have a solo in "We wish you a Merry Christmas" and so does Violet.
I am so excited about the busking.

How does twister have anything to do with Enrich, you ask. Well ,it all started on Friday afternoon, it was time for art and since Katie had her office day Jenni was taking art. She said that we were doing tape art, which is when you put tape down in an abstract design on paper and paint around the tape and when the paint is dry you take the tape off.  Hopefully it will turn out something like this. ---------------------------->
So back to how twister has something to do with Enrich. When we were taking the tape off we had to be careful so we didn't smudge the paint and we had a huge tangle of hands pulling off the tape and it felt like we were playing twister.

This morning we had to make a chair for Ella-Rose's friend Mr. frog. My group was Olivia, Clara, Max and I. We had thirty minutes and the supplies we had were masking tape, newspaper and scissors. My group made five legs a base and the back of the chair. The legs were made of rolled up newspaper. The base was made with folded newspaper and so was the back of the chair. When we were taping the legs on, Katie yelled out two more minutes! We were almost finished when Katie said that time was up and just as she said it ... our chair fell apart! So we obviously didn't win. That's the story of the froggy tech challenge!
PS. this is not ours!

HOORAY.

I am in the editing stage of my affective study!
As you may know from reading my past blogs I am doing a keynote for my affective study and I am studying Sir Peter Jackson and now I am in the editing stages WAHOO!
I am so excited about getting this finished but I have really enjoyed doing it.
I only have to do my build ins and outs, my transitions and my music. It will hopefully be finished by the end of the term.
I am really proud that I have done it so quickly.

Final rehearsal is tonight. I am so nervous about Tuesday night. My granddad and my whole family are coming, eek! Today at rehearsals we will have all of the people from performance throughout the week. We will sort out where we stand. At performance this morning we practiced 'Don't stop me now' and 'Let me entertain you'! I am soooo sick of that song!

Well got to go practice my moves!

GO! said Nicola and with that we all rushed off to the computers to start our studying. The person that I am studying is Sir Peter Jackson. I am working on a keynote about him. The slides include information about his life and his future plans. I am enjoying studying for once! He is very interesting to study. You might get a chance to see it. Watch this space :)

"Hit the music" Ella said. Ella is our new dance choreographer for performance. We learnt dance moves to the song "Let Me Entertain You" By Robbie Williams. I think that the song is really cool. We practiced a few times without the music and a few times with the music. We need a partner for the second chorus, mine is Pearl. I really liked learning new songs!

"Grab a laptop, login and shut the lid, oh and remember that the first step is your table and the floor is your chair" Nicola said I quickly logged in and shut the lid and paid attention to Nicola. We had to do a test to see what our top three intelligences are. My top three intelligences were language, music and self (intrapersonal). I enjoyed doing the Multiple Intelligences Survey. Here is the link to it and here are the four photos that I screen shot! You might want to give it a go! Blog Ya Later! http://www.literacyworks.org/mi/assessment/findyourstrengths.html

Thursday 1 August 2013

"Let's build this stretcher" I said as Katie said: "Go". Pearl, Clara, Violet and I started to build our technology challenge stretcher to hold four flour and sugar babies. We had twenty-two minutes to build four strong handles and a strong base. The equipment we had to do this was: Unlimited sticky tape, four metres of string, two full sheets of newspaper and one pair of scissors! So we got to work on our stretcher and before we knew it it was thirty seconds on the clock to go! Then Darryn started counting down "ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one STOP! I looked down at what we had created. It was not a bad effort and from twenty-two minutes to one second I had learnt that it is VERY hard to build a stretcher in that amount of time! Time to face the course I thought as we were walking over to the obstacle course. It didn't look too hard, but after I saw what we were up against I was worried sick! As everybody else had their turn, it was our turn. So Violet and Clara piled the flour and sugar babies onto our stretcher! As they started to lift it, all of the handles broke off and our chance of winning was 0%, oh well :(

"Mapping with Jenni, hooray!" Today we did Mapping where we learned how to use a compass and that the red needle always points to the north, no matter what way you stand. I also learned that you should always check your equipment by doing things like tapping on the top of your compass to check that the needle is on properly. The type of compass we used was called 'Silva compass.' We had a map that we used to find out what way you would go with your compass to get to a certain place.

"All of your sorrows, Maybe Tomorrow will fade away in the air, trying to please me, making it easy it won't be there, it won't be there, in your life, in your life". That is the chorus of our new song called "Maybe Tomorrow" that we are learning in performance group I really love the song. It is amazing so if you want to see it here is a link to it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6N_jJvT76A Blog ya later!

Just a quick word from me today ............ In performance we did SOLOS! I have a bit that says:" I trust in you to show the way to me beyond the sea." It is in a song called "Like an Eagle" I also have a trio piece with Tara and Ella-Rose it is :"And soar with the Eagle so far beyond my dreams , like an eagle I will fly!"  Sorry can't stay to chat!

Lights, Camera, Action

"Wheres my happy ending?"Ella-Rose finished saying. "Your up Kady" said Nicola , OMG I am sooooooo nervous!"I know my lines so everything is going to be alright and anyway the show must go on" I thought.

Today we performed our monologues and Neave filmed them. I think I did pretty well but I needed to be louder if you are wondering what my monologue was it was this :

"Hello I would like to take a moment to talk to all of you about the dangers of taking your parents to Disneyland first off we are all here in  a big group and who wants to be discovered by a classmate when your Mum is wearing Mickey ears and asking your little brother how to write a text message. Then there is your Dads fascination with roller-coasters , this could go one of two ways either really fun or if your Dads like mine you should probably avoid them all together. My Dad made me wait in line for the highest , the fastest , most exciting ride at Disneyland ... Space Mountain ... the line was forever then we hopped into a little car that zips off , I started to question my Dad about the four corn-dogs he had wolfed down while waiting in line then it happened as soon as we hit the first dip in the track ......................
MY DAD HURLS! I think it must've hit some people in the cars behind us because for being at Disneyland I sure heard a lot of bad language. Thank god space mountain is in the dark so no-one knew who did it! If you go I suggest sitting in the front!"

Thanks for your time , blog ya later :)

I CANNOT BREATHE!

"SANDWICH" Nicola says and we all frantically run behind the seat. I lay down on the ground then came Olivia, next came Pearl, soon after that came Daniel and last but not least came Hamish.
I could barely breathe!
Finally Nicola said "back to your seats & we will do another one."
 I was so relieved.
Today we did spatial drama and the game that we did was called ten second object making and this is how you do it:
You need a group with four or more players, once you have that you need a caller that thinks of the object then the caller calls out an object and you and your group must make that with the help of teamwork and co-operation :)

Going to Disneyland

"Hello...I would like to take a moment to talk to all of you about the dangers of taking your parents to disney land." Nicola started and instantly I knew this one was the monologue for me!

Ok for those of you who don't know what a monologue is: it is  a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical

production. and it tells the audience what the actor is

thinking.

My monologue was about the dangers of

taking your parents to disneyland. It is

called Disney Danger. I have to practice it

over fifty times so that I know it off my

heart.

When I perform it to the performance

group I get to wear a sparkly blue hat! We

only have two weeks to practice it and we get

to take a sheet of the words to take home to

practice.

Performance

"Like an eagle I will soar above the clouds, I will spread my wings and fly into the sun." Today we did performance and sang our new song called 'Like an Eagle' by Carl Strommen. We practiced it three times and the last time we stood up and did it. In some bits of the song it gets a bit hard and confusing but I felt really nice when I got it right. Nicola said "We really need to push our voices out." She also said I did that really well!

Where in the world?

"Where in the world is Steve-O the Stag?" Katie finished saying to the performance group and we all rushed off to the performance corner to practice our songs. This week we have a new song called 'Like an Eagle' by Carl Strommen link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viA5MUsQ1C0.
Getting back to Steve-o the Stag. We did a Where in the World keynote today, which means the Enrich teachers make a keynote to do with a famous person & we get about ten clues to try and find where they are! This time the person was Steve-O the Stag(Southland Stags mascot). I got most of the answers and I really hope that they are right. Wish me luck!

"Is there Life on Mars?" We all finished singing. Today we sang a new song called "Life on Mars?" This is the chorus:

"Sailors fighting in the dance hall. Oh man! Look at those cavemen go. It's the freakiest show. Take a look at the lawman beating up the wrong guy . Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know he's in the best selling show. Is there life on Mars?"

This was part of our performance session today with Nicola.  I quite like this new song - it's got a few quiet parts mixed with loud parts.  We will be singing this at Wachner Place sometime in the near future.

Thursday 18 April 2013

" Oh my god" we all started singing.

You're probably wondering what I am talking about , let me explain; ok so today I did performance group with Nicola and we got two lyric sheets. The first one we sang was "Don't stop me now" by Queen, and the last one was Gin Wigmore's "Oh my".  I love both of those songs and we might be performing them in Wachner place! We practiced both songs three times! We were going to do a song by Guy Sebastian but we didn't have time. I wish we could have. Oh well never mind.

Thats all from me this week.

Until next term, blog ya later :)

Talofa readers. Today we did talent development / passion time. I chose the performance group with Nicola which is part of talent development. First we counted to 20 in different emotions - that was called H.A.S.H (Happy , angry , sad and happy again.) Next we went away for 10 minutes to think of a song for our audition. If we didn't pass the audition we couldn't be in the performance group :(. When it was my turn I chickened out and so did Tara but we got a second chance. Nicola said we had until the end of lunch time to sing to her. I sang at lunch and so did Tara. Tara sang "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and I sang "What makes you beautiful" by One Direction. We both got in :). Phew! Any way I had a great time today!

Have you ever wanted to be a bird? Thats what I thought about today when we went to the avery at Queens Park. I guess your wondering why in the world we would be at Queens Park today, well we were there to study and find patterns. Natasha and I were in a pair and we found 59 different patterns on the way to and in Queens Park.

We spent an hour and a half taking photos. Which means we had to have morning tea at Queens Park. While we were there we looked at four different types of patterns , the four types were: beauty , order , strength and survivability. An easy way to remember it is B.O.S.S!

It was an amazing experience , I loved looking for patterns! Blog you later!

I could hear everybody writing frantically as Jenni was rolling the dice and I was crossing my fingers that two would come up. Finally it was the last roll and I was crossing my fingers so hard that they almost fell off!

Yahoo, it was two! We won - Olivia and I won! Okay I guess you're wondering what in the world I'm talking about? Today for my talent development taster I did probability maths and we were guesstimating what number on the dice would come up the most. Olivia and I guessed the number two and amazingly it did (just so you know she rolled it 50 times!)

Next we guessed what lolly Jenni would pull out the most Olivia and I chose Banana and again Olivia and I guessed right. Jenni also pulled them out 50 times! After that we chose three lollies - I chose two bananas and one strawberry:)

Next we did the dice rolling again ,I picked two again, I came second last :( oh well doesn't matter.

Until next time , bye!

Thursday 14 March 2013

Hey guys sorry, I didn't write last week but I'm back now :)

So today we did talent development tasters which means that we chose one taster. The options were : art with Darryn, maths with Katie, or music with Nicola. So I chose music and we did the song "My life would suck without you" by Kelly Clarkson! I loved it.

The words are this:
"Guess this means your sorry you're standing at my door ,guess this means you take back all you said before ,like how much you wanted anyone but me ,said you'd never come back but here you are again

Cause we belong together now yeah
forever uni-ted here somehow yeah
you got a piece of me and honestly
my life (my life) would suck (would suck) without you.

Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye, maybe I was wrong for trying to pick a fight I know that I've got issues but your pretty messed up too , either way I found out I'm nothing without you.

Cause we belong together now yeah
forever uni-ted here somehow yeah
you got a piece of me and honestly
my life (my life) would suck (would suck) without you.

being with you baby is so dysfunctional I really shouldn't miss you but I can't let you go, oh yeah
(dance break)

Cause we belong together now yeah

forever uni-ted here somehow yeah

you got a piece of me and honestly
my life (my life) would suck (would suck) without you.

First blog post of the year.I'm glad to be back at Enrich this year. We have a new teacher this year and her name is Nicola Lynch. She is lead teacher on Thursday and Fridays,(my day). She is sooo nice.

Our concept curriculum for this year is patterns! We have a good way to remember what different types of patterns are: The word is B.O.S.S.  It stands for Beauty, Order, Strength and Survivability!

Today I played chess against Josh and we played on the big life size chess board. I won :) Now  I am 5th place on the leaderboard! Yippee! I love playing chess. Thats all for this week, until next time bye.
